Not every Rocker opted for the ubiquitous black leather jacket. Own an authentic Irvin style WWII RAF flying jacket instead. Much research has gone into this accurate sheepskin flying jacket. Shortage of materials led to a drop in quality as the War progressed, with more panels of inferior sheepskin being used. This jacket is made to the exacting quality of early 1941/42 WWII jackets and has fewer panels and therefore less seams. Originally designed by the parachute pioneer Leslie Leroy Irvin, the RAF sheepskin flying jacket was the only one to be issued to RAF aircrews. Keeping airmen warm at extremely low temperatures was the only consideration in its purely practical design - if the jacket kept them warm it`ll keep a biker warm too. On this authentic reproduction the carefully selected sheepskin has been tonned, tanned and finished to the correct original colour specification. Included is the black elasticated cotton strap on the back of the collar to allow it to be lifted quickly and to fit snugly. Cotton tape brass zips have been specially made to wartime design, with the main zip including a slider box cup. Other correct details include waist belt with cast brass buckle, underarm leather gussets with eight enamelled brass eyelet ventilators in each, leather reinforced collar back, leather strap and double ring collar fastener, nickel plated brass hanging chain and the unique Irvin woven label sewn inside.
